Monogram Shadow Box

Have you all seen those cute crayon shadow boxes on Pinterest or somewhere else? What an awesome gift for a teacher! I've been busy making them, along with a rhinestone version for my daughter's dance teacher. I figured crayons would not be as fitting for a dance teacher. The project is pretty easy, but sort of time consuming.

You will need:

shadow box (Michael's had a 3 pack on sale for $9.99)

Hot glue & E6000 glue or GOOP

scrapbook paper

rhinestones (I mixed inexpensive ones with Swarovski rhinestones)
crayons

Embellishments such as flowers and ribbon

paper cutter

sharp knife and cutting board

pencil

computer with printer

light box table or bright window

1. Print out a large letter on your computer with the desired font. Cut your scrapbook paper to fit your shadow box. I like using printed paper instead of white, like I have seen. Place letter behind scrapbook paper and lightly trace with pencil letter on your light table or against a window. Position the letter slightly higher so you can fit the teacher's name underneath the letter.

2. Start gluing your crayons and/or rhinestones inside the traced letter. I used a mixture of hot glue and GOOP because I do not trust hot glue alone. Hot glue can deteriorate and not be strong enough to hold the weight of the crayons over time. I like my crayons facing one way for a cleaner look. I put some rhinestones on one of the crayons also for some sparkle.

3. I mixed all different color pink, some black, and mostly round rhinestones. Adding some Swarovski stones will make the project look a little better without being too expensive. I used some tweezers to pick off any exposed glue when I was done.

4. Erase any visible pencil lines. Print your teacher's name on white card stock and frame with a colored piece of scrapbook paper. Glue the name under the letter.

5. Add flowers or any other embellishments. Place paper inside frame and tie a ribbon around the shadow box, if desired.

Boy Birthday Cards

Spring means several birthday parties. I am always short boy cards, so here are a few I whipped up today. I used the Cricut Plantin Schoolbook and Home Decor cartridges for the shapes you see.

Bee card: black card stock, brown netting sheet, Cricut for the bee, and white card stock with printed "happy birthday." Green card stock, gingham ribbon, and Cricut for the circles, parentheses and scallop.

Brown, yellow, light green, and darkk green card stock, green netting sheet, Cricut for the arrows, orange brads.

Blue sparkle sticker cardstock (I freehand cut the tie), white out pen for the smiley, ribbon scraps, strapler to attach the ribbon.

Green patterned, orange, and black speckled card stock, Cricut for the oval, eyes and the attenas consist of a dash and circles.

Gray speckled card stock, Cricut for the city scape, white card stock with printed "Happy Birthday."

Scrap Those Christmas Memories

Here are two semi-quick scrapbook layouts to preserve those Christmas memories.

To scrap Christmas day I found a really ornate piece of scrapbook paper and cut along the design vertically. Add the pieces you cut out next to it, but spaced away on top of another coordinating paper. I then used some rub-ons over the top of the paper (the white and black scroll looking design). Add some jewels, ribbon, and then a journal entry (not included here) and you are done.

Here is a page to display your Christmas card. I layered a patterned paper over another patterned white piece. The top portion consists of layered chip board with jewels added. Ribbons separate the two halves. I used the Cricut to write "FAMILY" on the bottom.

Pink and Orange Scrapbook Layout

Here is a semi-new scrap layout. I am obsessed with pink and orange lately! I layered lots of different flowers made out of fabric, felt, paper, etc. and then added brads and stickers and jewels to embellish.

I went to a late nighter with my friend the other night and here are some new pages I did. They had these awesome foil stickers of crowns and Fleur De lis for my daughter's recital page. I used a Cricut machine to cut the cool arrows for my sons 2 page spread.
