Revive Old Patio Furniture

This post is nothing new. Many people have  painted their patio furniture to give it an update. My husband flips houses and found these chairs in a backyard. The Arizona sun beat them up pretty good. There were some hideous cushions also, but I will spare you the photos of them.

You Will Need:

Spray primer- 2 cans per chair

Spray pain- 2 cans per chair

Make sure you paint in a well ventilated area and wearing a mask would be extra safe. I primed each chair with thick coats, let dry for 15 minutes, and then added my color. I added cushions and decor I already had. Whats funny is the table base was free also from a house my husband had. He built and stained the table top. So this whole seating grouping cost me $20 in spray paint (minus the decor and we already had the wood and cushions)!! I suggest looking on Craigslist for some free/cheap furniture. This time of year is very popular for those listings. Good luck.

Restored Console

I just scored this gorgeous console table from Juniper's Loft. She is located in Mesa, AZ and she restores and re-purposes furniture and home accents from her home. You can check out her blog: Http://junipersloft.blogspot.com. Her prices are very reasonable and the piece itself is of top quality! It is solid oak painted black and then sanded at the edges to reveal the underlying color. The piece made a great addition to our den.

Distressed Buffet

I have been looking for the perfect buffet and could not seem to find one that was unique. So I found an old one at a vintage store and refinished it.

1. First you have to prime it with primer or else the color you chose will just sink in and may not stick to super glossy furniture

2. Paint the color you would like to show through once you sand off a little bit of the main color (in my case, it was red)

3. Paint the final color you would like your piece.

4. Sand off the edges to reveal the under color and some of the original stain if desired. I also took a piece or rock from my yard and threw it and banged it all over this piece. My toddler was in awe! She enjoyed helping me "distress" the furniture.

The red did not show through as much as I wanted it to. I did buy some craft paint in red that I was gonna brush on, but I was happy with the way it looked so I didn't want to experiment anymore! Wear a mask when painting and some shoes you do not care about.

Giraffe Heaven

I'm in love with my giraffe printed entry bench! I found the bench on craigslist and had it re-upholstered in a cute fabric. The old fabric was a hideous yellow grandma print! It also made a cute photo prop for my daughter's recent photo shoot.
